Mendoza: Guide
Mendoza er hovedstad i Provincia de Mendoza som ligger vest i Argentina, nær grensen til Chile. Byen har 121 000 innbyggere (2001), med de omkringliggende områdene er befolkningen omlag 800 000. Byen brukes av turster som et utgangspunkt for friluftsaktiviteter, blant annet for bestingning av Sør-Amerikas høyeste fjell Aconcagua.
Næringsliv
Byen er sentrum for landets viktigste vin- og fruktdistrikt. En annen viktig inntektskilde er produksjon av olivenolje. Det finnes også et oljeraffineri i byen.
Historie
Mendoza ble grunnlagt av spanjolene i 1561.
