Augsburg: Guide
Augsburg er en by i den tyske delstaten Bayern, og ble grunnlagt av romerne i år 15 f.Kr. under navnet Augusta Vindelicorum. Den ble en fristad i det tysk-romerske rike i 1276. Handelen blomstret på grunn av byens strategiske posisjon som bindeledd mellom Tyskland og Italia. Det var her den rike bankierfamilien Fugger hadde sitt stamsete.
Da det tysk-romerske rike ble oppløst i 1806 mistet Augsburg sin status som fristad og ble lagt under kongedømmet Bayern.
