Bonn: Guide


Bonn er en by beliggende ved Rhinen i den tyske delstaten Nordrhein-Westfalen, omtrent 30 km. syd for Köln og 60 km. nord for Koblenz.

Innbyggertallet i byen passerte i 1939 grensen på 100 000, og byen fikk status som storby.

Bonn fungerte som Vest-Tysklands provisoriske hovedstad og regjeringssete i perioden 1949–1990. Etter 1991 ble hovedstaden flyttet tilbake til Berlin, hvor regjeringen og sentraladministrasjonen gradvis har flyttet i løpet av 1990-tallet.

Byen er sete for Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität, grunnlagt 1777. Den er også sete for de to største foretakene innen kommunikasjonsområdet; Deutsche Post og Deutsche Telekom. I Bonn finner man også Haribo, en av Europas største produsenter av godteri. Bonn er også hovedkvarter for flere FN-organisasjoner.

I desember 2003 bodde det ca. 313 000 innbyggere i byen.
