Eisenach: Guide


Eisenach er en by i delstaten Thüringen i Tyskland.

Martin Luther vokste opp i Mansfeld nær Eisenach. Det var på borgen Wartburg i 1521, rett ved Eisleben, at han oversatte Det nye testamente fra gresk til tysk. Byen er også fødested for Johann Sebastian Bach.

Severdigheter


Det sentrale torget Markt, med:
Georgenkirche, der Luther prekte og Bach ble døpt.
Fontena fra 1549 med den forgylte statuen av St. Georg og draken
Renessanserådhuset fra 1500-tallet, delvis ødelagt av bomber under krigen og med moderne tilbygg fra 1990-tallet
Slottet. Stallene rommer Thüringer Museum med utstillinger av kunsthandverk og folkekultur.
Lutherhuset er et seingotisk bindingsverkshus ovenfor Markt, der Martin Luther skal ha bodd i oppveksten. Huset har utstillinger knytta til Luther.
Karlsplatz, med:
Nikolaiporten, som er den eldste bevarte byporten i romansk stil i Thüringen.

Bachhuset, der Bach i følge tradisjonen skal være født. Like ved ligger Bachmuseet med form som et konsertflygel.

Kartaushagen, Eisenachs vakreste parkanlegg. Her lå vertshuset «Goldene Löwe», der den første tyske arbeiderkongressen fant sted i 1869, med August Bebel og Karl Liebknecht blant de delegerte. På stedet ligger i dag et bygg som rommer utstillinger om tysk arbeiderbevegelse.
Automobilbaumuseum, som forteller historia om Eisenacher Motoren Werke|bilindustrien i Eisenach.
