Görlitz: Guide
Görlitz (tysk by i Sachsen, den ligger ved elven Neisse i den nederschlesiske Overlausitzkretsen. På andre siden ligger den polske byen Zgorzelec, som før 1948 var en del av Görlitz. I dag er det knyttet vennlige bånd mellom de to byene som har begynt endel samarbeide seg imellom. Blant annet er broene gjenoppbygd og det går regelmessige busser.
Etter Wienerkongressen i 1815 måtte kongeriket Sachsen avstå byen til kongeriket Preussen, og den ble en del av provinsen Nedre Schlesien (Niederschlesien). Den er sete for en protestantisk og en katolsk biskop.
Byen tilhører den nye Europaregion Neisse.
