Dolgellau: Guide


Dolgellau er en markedsby i Gwynedd, Wales, ved elven Mawsddach. Den var tidligere administrasjonsby i Merionethshire.

Byens historie startet med en Romerriket|romersk militærleir. Byen er kjent som det siste sted det gamle walisiske parlamentet møttes, i 1404 under Owen Glendower. Det ble senere et fristed for Vennenes samfunn|kvekere. I en periode ble det lett etter gull i området.

Blant byens severdigheter finner man Cymer Abbey fra det 13. århundre og i nærheten ligger Cader Idris.

Dolgellau var vertskap for den nasjonale Eisteddfod i 1949.
