Llanelli: Guide
Llanelli er en kystby i Carmarthenshire i Wales, omkring 13 km fra Swansea. Den er spesielt kjent for sine rugby (idrett)|rugbytradisjoner.
Byen begynte å vokse i 18. århundre|18. og 19. århundre da kullgruve-, jern- og tinnindustri ble etablert. Den ble en så viktig produsent av tinnplater at den i slutten av det 19. århundre ofte ble kalt «Tinopolis».
Stengningen av kullgruvene og konkurranse med utenlandske stålprodusenter har ført til nedgangstider fra slutten av 1970-årene.
Kultur, idrett og friluftsliv
Llanelli var vertskap for den nasjonale Eisteddfod i 1895, 1903, 1930, 1962, og 2000.
